The Kruger, known as the Ruger in the PS2 version, is an assault rifle that only appears in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. It replaces the standard AK-47 assault rifle from previous titles.
Information[]
The weapon is based on the real life Ruger AC556F law enforcement version of the Mini-14 rifle.
Specifications[]
The Ruger is one of the two assault rifles that appear in the game, the other being the M4. Unlike the M4, the Ruger is also the least powerful of the two. The gun has a low rate of fire, and the damage done to a target is over nearly half of that compared to the M4, taking at least three shots to gun down a target; more than three if the target is wearing body armor. Despite this, the weapon is a poor choice for heavy gun battles, but a good last resort weapon to use if a much more powerful weapon is unavailable. The weapon still maintains a 30 round magazine capacity as well as long range firing.
Targeting Glitch[]
In console titles of the game, the player is unable to auto-aim assault rifles as the aiming is done manually. If the player sets themselves on fire and presses the target button while holding the weapon, the player will be able to auto-aim the weapon. This glitch also works with the M4. Preforming this glitch is no longer needed on the PC version as the player can freely aim weapons.
Location(s)[]
- Found on the roof in the back of the El Swanko Casa safehouse.
- Available to buy from the Ocean Beach Ammu-Nation for $1,000 after Guardian Angels.
Trivia[]
- In the PS2 version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the Kruger features a wooden receiver rather that an all grey receiver. It is simply known as the Ruger ingame.
- In the beta version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the AK-47 was originally supposed to appear in the game, as texture files for the weapon can be found in the game. It was removed for unknown reasons and replaced with the Ruger/Kruger.
